For the Cleveland Browns to have a chance to get at least 1 win next season, they should look to spend some of that cap money they have on a veteran signal-caller, opposed to doing what they have ALWAYS done, and that’s draft a quarterback. Why waste everyone’s time with doing what has already been done on many other occasions? I say go out and try to sign an Alex Smith, Kirk Cousins or hell if Eli Manning becomes available, try to throw the bag at him too.

One thing for sure is that none of the previous rookie QBs will NOT be the saviour in Cleveland, and that is a proven FACT!

Disney acquires most of 21st Century Fox

In a deal that was just announced, The Walt Disney Company has puchased the rights to a huge chunk of 21st Century Fox. The deal is worth $52.4 billion in stock, plus $13.7 billion more in net debt that Disney will be taking on.

Now this isn’t something that should be seen as something small, because Disney will be taking over FX Networks, Nat Geo, YES Network (NYC), Prime Ticket, FS-West, as well as Fox’s stake in Hulu & Sky Plc, just to name a couple.

Fox will keep the rights to FS1, FS2, Fox News Channel, The Big Ten Network and Fox Business, but those will all be part of a newly listed company once the deal is finalized.

Disney made this move because there is a large amount of people cancelling their cable subscriptions and it was hurting their biggest TV draw, ESPN. This purchase will bolster their range, and also put them in an arms race of sort with streaming giant Netflix, because they will now own a good piece of it’s biggest rival, Hulu. The next 12-18 months are going to be very interesting.

The trade that everyone knew was coming has finally happened. The 76ers are trading the former No. 3 overall pick to the Brooklyn Nets along with one time lottery pick Nick Stauskas and a 2nd round pick for Trevor Booker. Now in his 3rd season, Okafor is looking for a place to showcase his talents and audition for a new home next season, since he will be at the end of his rookie contract and an unrestricted free agent.

Priviledge wins again for Rob Gronkowski

Pro Bowl TE Robert Gronkowski was mad that the pass interference wasn’t called on rookie DB Tre’Davious White, so instead of knocking out a referee or spazzing out on the ref, he just loaded up and ran into a very defenseless White, giving him a concussion. The NFL decided hey, we are going to suspend you but only for 1 game. Robert appealed his suspension, but it was upheld. Now, after seeing the video multiple times from different angles in real time speed and slow motion, it bothers me that 87 only received a 1 game suspension. His intentions were to inflict pain and injure, which he accomplished. JuJu Smith-Schuster was suspended 1 game for a hard hit he gave Vontaze Burfict(ironic, I know), but at least that happened in the field of play, not while the other guy is laying on the ground, well after the whistle. I got a problem with White’s teammates not stepping up to 87 after the hit, they’re just out there pointing and somewhat “pushing,” 87.  Yet another questionable moment in the playing career of Robert Gronkowski…smh.

You all be the judge Gronk dirty hit

It’s playoff football time here in Tennessee and the Quarterfinals kickoff tonight @ 7pm. We’d like to take a moment to highlight a few games from across the state. Let us start in Division I Class AAA with the Firebirds of Pearl Cohn out of Nashville, TN. They will be up against Fairview tonight, and the Firebirds ended the regular season with a record of 8-2 and they have won their last 3 games 146-0…just let that sink in for a minute, 146-0! Pearl Cohn’s opponent for tonight has a record of 9-3 but they are going to need their “big boy pants” on tonight, because Pearl Cohn has been on an absolute tear lately.

Now the other game to watch tonight is going to be the 12-0 Raleigh-Egypt Pharaohs(Memphis, TN) vs the 11-1 Chargers out of Covington, TN. Raleigh-Egypt has not won by less than 12 points since an early 1 point thriller against Arlington, so this should definitely be an interesting game. I personally know how good the Chargers are this year, just as they have been in years past. The Crockett Co. Cavaliers will have a grudge match against the Haywood Tomcats. Haywood beat the brakes off of Crockett earlier this season, but this is a new day and I’m sure the Cavs are salty about their performance and would love nothing but to send the Tomcats home with an L. Also we cannot forget about the Maplewood Panthers that are trying to add to the hardware their basketball program captured earlier this year.

And for Class 6A we will start with the 10-2 Whitehaven Tigers taking on the White Station Spartans. White Station is a team with a losing record for the year but seem to have caught fire in recent weeks, with wins in 4 straight games, which would include last week over a then undefeated Germantown squad (29-28) and they knocked off Arlington as well (17-14), so I am sure they will not be intimidated by Whitehaven. Lastly i would like to highlight what I believe is going to be the game of the week and that is the Cane Ridge Ravens vs the Ravenwood Raptors. Both programs are ranked in the top 15 in the state. Tonight is going to be a very interesting night across this state for football.

World Series champion Jose Altuve added a new piece of hardware to his 2017 collection. Altuve is this year’s AL MVP after his Houston Astros finished the season as the champs. Altuve is only the 2nd Astros player to win MVP, the other being Jeff Bagwell. Now, on the flip side of things, Giancarlo Stanton (Marlins) won the NL MVP by just 2 votes over Joey Votto (Reds). Stanton finished the season with 59 home runs, 132 hits with a batting average of  .281. Stanton is only the 7th MVP whose team had a losing record.

The Boo Boo Bowl

9ers

This past Sunday, the San Francisco 49ers defeated the New York Giants 31-21 to win what will be this season’s “Boo Boo Bowl.” The Boo Boo Bowl is a game played between 2 teams that are terrible and battling for a top 5 pick in the next draft. This game embodied both of those things and more! 9ers quarterback CJ Beathard scored 3 times, one of those being a rushing TD.  After getting their first win of the season, this leaves the Cleveland Browns as the only win-less team in the league. So, congratulations are in order for the San Francisco 49ers, the winners of the 2017 Boo Boo Bowl! You are now one step closer to the 2nd overall pick as opposed to the 1st overall pick lol. Side note, Kyle Shanahan has not named his started for next week’s game, which leads me to think that if Jimmy G has at least 60% of the playbook down, then Kyle is going to go ahead and pass him the reigns.

Now former TSU defensive lineman, Latrelle Lee has been kicked off the team and expelled from Tennessee State after he punched his strength and conditioning coach on the sidelines of their game this past Saturday. Here is the video, courtesy of Football Scoop where Lee can be seen knocking out this coach and the people around seemed ok with it. There is one staff member that can be seen initially attempting to calm the altercation, but clearly he wasn’t interested in doing more to stop the inevitable. I also read somewhere that this wasn’t the first time Lee has assaulted a staff member. Now, who knows what was said to make Lee pop off, but one thing I do know, if you’re a coach and you got a player named any variation of “Latrelle,” you better guard ya grill, just ask PJ Carlisimo and T.J. Greenstone.
