The Chicago Cubs are your 2016 World Series Champions! The Cubs won, what will go down as a classic series, as they came back from being down 3-1 and capped it off with an 8-6 victory on the road against a resilient Cleveland Indians club. This game definitely had fans across the country on edge! The Cubs saw a 5 run lead slip away after allowing 2 runs on errors, and then a Rashei Davis 2 run homer to tie the game at 6-6. Might I remind you that his homer came against Aroldis Chapman, the club’s closer, who had just thrown 42 pitches in game 6.
After all of the drama and the rallying of the Indians, the great equalizer shows up, a downpour of rain, and there’s a delay. The game goes into extra innings and the Cubs score 2 runs in the top of the 10th, but Davis will cut it to a 1 score game with an RBI single himself, and then it happened…a bouncing ball hit to 3rd, and time stood still…while Kris Bryant made the throw to 1st to give the Cubs their first World Series title since 1908!
You didn’t have to be a baseball fan to enjoy this game tonight. Both teams gave the fans all they could handle tonight, this is what a game 7 looks like. As long as when people look back in history and don’t forget that Theo Epstein deserves a lot of credit for this championship season, then I’m cool. People are quick to forget that Theo is broke the curse in Boston, then he went to Chicago and did the same damn thing! Much love to Theo Epstein, Ain’t No Curse Bih!
