In honor of Black History Month, I want to honor my mom. No she isn’t famous to the world, but in my town she was special. Bettie J. Holloway-Taylor was an educator to a lot of youth throughout the 1990s and early 2000s. She was loving and kind to all that she came in contact with and she was always trying to help her people. She started a Christmas program in our neighborhood, that would give out free meals and toys to families in need and also the elderly members of the community. She would tutor dozens of children free of charge and did her best to be someone that was always there for you in your time of need. She was and still is my inspiration to be better in life, so every day I try to emulate some of the things she did and I know I’m a better person because of that. I believe that people shouldn’t just highlight the lives of celebrities and people that we have never even met, but instead, we should take time to highlight those people that have influenced our lives and others around them, in a special way. So, with that being said, I’d like to recognize my mother, Bettie J. Holloway-Taylor 3-11-1956 to 10-31-2012.  #BHM #LsUp #BettiesBaby #BTSE #LiveLife #Educate
