I woke up this morning to a few text messages asking if I heard about Stuart Scott’s passing, and initially I was hesitant to believe that it was true but I then went to the official ESPN website and it became reality. Man…he was just 49 and cancer finally had taken its toll on Scott, who has been battling the disease since 2007. For some Scott was just that smooth talking anchor on ESPN, but for me, Scott was everything that I aspired to be one day.

When I was a kid, I can remember staying up late at night, just to watch re-runs of the SportsCenter, just to catch some of those catch-phrases that Scott was so quick to give. I never got a chance to meet him in person, but if I did, I would have told him thanks, even though he didn’t know me personally, he made a very big impact on my life and it’s because of him that I even became interested in sports broadcasting. The sports world lost a real gem. I know now that heaven will forever be, as Scott would say, as cool as the other side of the pillow. RIP Stuart Scott 7-19-1965 – 1-04-2015 #BTSE #ScottStrong
